Teaser Trailer
Sound is a key aspect in this teaser trailer as there is not a lot of visual. The non-diegetic voiceovers are a conversation between two of the characters from the film. The audience feel as though they have heard a little clip of what happens in the film; this then makes them want to find out what the characters are talking about and what happens. As well as non-diegetic voiceovers there is also non-diegetic music in the background. This music builds tension and anticipation with the audience.
There is not a lot of editing techniques used in this teaser trailer. The screen remained black for most of the trailer with the occasional beam of light shining at an angle from the centre of the screen. The lighting then increased, until the screen returned to black before the title and time of year that the film will be released which faded in and out onto the screen.
This teaser trailer uses no film footage, therefore nothing is given away. The only mise-en-scene that has been used is the Batman logo, which becomes destroyed as the beams of light hit it. The use of the Batman logo is what people will recognise because Batman has become very iconic over the years through previous films and the DC Comics.
The teaser trailer creates tension through its use of sound with its non-diegetic voiceovers and the tension building music.
Magazine
The main image on the front of the text shows a mid shot of the main character, Batman, in costume. This image may have been studio based and then manipulated to edit in the cloudy sky behind him. The use of the character in costume on the front of the magazine helps in making the image more recognisable to the audience, which will grab their attention because if they recognise the character they may purchase the magazine. The main title of the magazine has been written in a handwritten style font. By being in white it stands out from the image. It has been placed behind the image, making the character look further forward and more noticeable. There is a lot of sub-text on this magazine front cover as it is advertising other things that are in the magazine. The colours of the sub-text are white and gold. The main title is remarkable larger than the sub-titles as it needs to attract the attention of its audience. The colour scheme that is present in this image is white and gold. This colour scheme has been chosen from the colours in the image. This helps to grab the attention of the audience because all of the text and the image all tie in together and helps in making the magazine appear more presentable.
Poster
In the middle of the poster is a view of the setting. It shows a big built up city through a window. In front of the window is the main character with his back to the audience. This image would have been chosen because it shows the main character, which people would be familiar with from previous films and from DC Comics. The title and the film’s logo are situated above the image on the poster and its font size is very small. This is because the audience are already familiar with the character from the costume and the logo. The composition of the poster uses the whole of the frame as the main image. The logo and title are then small and at the top half of the image. There are industry logos and credits at the bottom of the poster, which are also very small. This makes the audience pay closer attention to the image on the poster.
Because of the popularity of the character Batman from DC Comics and the previous Batman films the main character of batman is very recognisable. This means that either from the image of the character or from the logo people will recognise the character that the film is based on; therefore not a lot of text is needed to grab the audience’s attention. By not putting a great amount of text on the poster not too much about the film is given away.
Representation
No characters are revealed through the teaser trailer but the main character can be seen in the poster and on the magazine front cover. The character is viewed stereotypically as a strong male as by wearing a super hero costume it is stereotypically viewed that males super heroes and strong and powerful.
Collective Identity
The collective identity in these texts shows that American people think of themselves as superheroes and powerful.

Overall
The link between the teaser trailer, magazine front cover and poster is the Batman logo. This is the main visual focus point in the teaser trailer, it is in the top right hand corner of the magazine front cover and on the top of the poster. The other thing that links the magazine front cover to the poster is the image of the main character. The superhero is shown in the front of the frame facing the audience on the magazine front cover and on the poster the character is present but he has his back to the audience.
