Technologies Used
Camcorder – Sony A1E
A Sony A1E is a light weight high definition camcorder, which was designed to be used professionally. Even though it is high definition it can still record in standard definition. This can be done by being able to change the recording settings from HDV (a high definition video playback) to DVCAM (this is Sony’s version of DV. It records audio and locks it, preventing it from incorrect syncing from the visual) and DV (digital video). It records high quality images with a CMOS sensor. CMOS stands for Complementary metal–oxide–semiconductor. The use of this is that the camera lens has:“Wide dynamic range Smear-lessHigh sensitivity & Low noise High-speed read-out Low power consumption”It also allows still pictures to be taken (photographs).
Editing Software - Photoshop

Within the film industry a variety of technologies are used in order to create a film, especially as technology is expanding. Different companies use different cameras and editing programs due to the effect that they wish to present to the audience. As part of my research in order to create a teaser trailer I must first look into the different technologies and new media that can be used to create a teaser trailer, magazine front cover and a poster.

iMovie is a film editing software program by Apple. It allows you to drag files from folders into iMovie and edit them. iMovie enables you to trim clips, add transactions and add titles. It also uses a “magnified filmstrip view shows you exactly where one clip ends and the next begins” (Apple, copyright 2010, Edit fast. Edit precisely). By using a “magnified filmstrip” it enables film footage to be closely edited and carefully looked at.
Editing Software - Photoshop
Photoshop is a professional image editing program. Photoshop is used to edit and manipulate images by colour, brightness, shade and size. Photoshop allows you to create a number of layers on your image. This is so that when moving or editing one image you are not moving or editing the rest of the image. An image can be de-saturated, a selected colour enhanced, the brightness lightened and darkened.
Camera - Canon 40D DSLR

The camera that I will be using to take the photographs of the actors in the teaser trailer for the magazine front cover and the poster is my Canon 40D DSLR. This is a 10 mega pixel camera where you can alter the ISO (white colour balance), aperture and the shutter speed of the photograph. It also has a flash.
