The Most Popular Film Genre
In researching into the most popular film genre I can across the website above showing results of a questionnaire carried out into the most popular genre.
It shows that in 2008 the most popular film genre was Comedy with 30% of the total of people. This then dropped to 22% in 2009, but remains the most popular genre. The next most popular was Action in 2008 with 23% followed by Adventure with 19%. In 2009 Action and Adventure were joint second with 19% of the population choosing them.
This shows that although there has not been a large change in most popular genre over the year people are slowly starting to prefer other genres other than comedy.
The change in genre has also been noticable between the following categories: drama, thriller, horror and romantic comedy.
Drama has increased in popularity from 9% in 2008 to 15% in 2009.
Thriller has increased in popularity from 8% in 2008 to 10% in 2009.
Horror has increased in popularity from 3% in 2008 to 6% in 2009.
Romantic Comedy has increased in popularity from 3% in 2008 to 5% in 2009.
Musical has decreased in popularity from 3% in 2008 to 0% in 2009.
Concert has decreased in popularity from 1% in 2008 to 0% in 2009.
Black Comedt has decreased in popularity from 1% in 2008 to 0% in 2009.
But Documentart has increased in popularity from 0% in 2008 to 1% in 2009.
This shows that even during one year the popularity of film genre changes, whether it is by a little or a lot.
